FOOTBALL:
Former Super Eagles captain and coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi is hopeful he can claim the Super Eagles coaching job which has been declared vacant by the Nigeria Football Federation.
Samson Siasia who played for the Super Eagles at the 1992 and 1994 Nations Cup finals and went on to represent Nigeria at the USA ‘94 World Cup alongside Keshi was tipped to become the next coach of the Nigerian senior national team and even held a preliminary discussion with former NFF’s Technical Committee chairman, Dominic Iorfa.
However, the Glass House decided to declare the post vacant after Siasia’s salary demands turned out to be out of the reach of the Federation whose former leaders were arraigned before an Abuja High Court to give accounts of how funds were spent under their stewardship.

Siasia’s loss could be Keshi’s gains but the ‘Big Boss’ insists money is not the determining factor in his bid to be the substantive coach of the Eagles.
“We need to bring back our glory days in the area of football. Money is not everything and this will not drive us to run Nigerian football but the most important thing is to bring back Nigeria’s past glory.
“This is not where we were in the past, so there is need for development in terms of our football.
“We need to bring back that joy, that glory that we always experience in those days,” Keshi who has coached Togo and Mali in the past said.
The Nigeria Football Federation have announced that the new Eagles boss will now be unveiled on October 1, the day Nigeria marks her 50th independence anniversary.
